Our Fleet Test Drive: Renault Kadjar - 10th report

Date: 11 August 2016   |   Author: David Motton

The Kadjar has been working hard and playing hard over the past couple of weeks.

Playtime was a camping trip with my eldest child. Pop-up tents may be easy to put up but they take up a lot of space. Together with all the books, toys, clothes and food she wanted to take with her, we had a lot of luggage for an overnight trip, but there was room for everything in the Kadjar's boot. With a capacity of 472 litres, it's a useful 42 litres bigger than a Nissan Qashqai's.

Unfortunately, our campsite was directly under the flight path of planes taking off from Gatwick, which didn't make for the most restful night. At 6am we stealthily packed our tent away and were home in time for breakfast.

A few days later, the Kadjar was in work mode, racking up 250 miles on a round trip to Cheltenham. It reminded me that the Renault is a very good motorway car, with its comfortable driving position and refined engine. If the trip computer can be believed then fuel economy is improving, too. We'll find out for sure when the tank is next filled, but with a realistic range of 600 miles the Kadjar doesn't stop for diesel very often.
