New engines added to Vauxhall Astra range

Date: 17 May 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Vauxhall has made two new engines available with its Astra small family car.

The manufacturer says the new engines - a 1.6-litre 200hp petrol and a 1.6-litre 136hp diesel - are designed to meet new Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standards, which come into force in September 2019.

The new petrol engine achieves an official combined fuel economy of 43.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 151g/km, with quoted performance figures of 0-60mph in 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 146mph.

The diesel engine achieves an official combined fuel economy of 64.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 116g/km.

Both engines are available with either manual or automatic transmissions.

Vauxhall says that to reduce particulate emissions from the petrol engine it is fitted with a close-coupled gasoline particulate filter, while the diesel engine is equipped with selective catalytic reduction technology to help reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

The new petrol engine is available to order now in hatch and Sports Tourer estate body styles, with prices starting from £24,435 for a hatch in Elite Nav trim. The new diesel engine is available to order now in a hatch, and in a Sports Tourer soon after, with prices starting from £20,595 for a hatch in Design trim.
