Enterprise Car Club and Ubeeqo arrive in Waltham Forest

Date: 22 May 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Two car club operators have been given permission to operate in Waltham Forest, London.

Enterprise Car Club and Ubeeqo have been given the go-ahead to operate in the borough, making 33 cars available between them for short-term business and personal hire.

The new vehicles will operate alongside 47 other Zipcar fixed car club vehicles and more than 100 flexible car club vehicles already operating in the borough by Zipcar Flex and Drive Now.

Enterprise Car Club and Ubeeqo are offering free driving credit to residents who sign up to use their cars.

Enterprise Car Club managing director Dan Gursel said: "Waltham Forest is a tremendous opportunity for Enterprise Car Club and it means we now have a presence in 22 London Boroughs.

"We want to offer members a joined up service through Enterprise Car Club so that people can make use of our vehicles right across the country.

"We already have more than 1,500 vehicles in more than 30 towns and cities across the UK, including many at major transport hubs such as train stations, and we are continuing to extend that network into other locations."

Ubeeqo UK managing director Christopher Morris said: ""We're delighted to be expanding our operations into Waltham Forest and look forward to working with the local community to further develop convenient, sustainable travel solutions which are affordable for all."

Waltham Borough Council deputy leader and cabinet member for the environment Councillor Clyde Loakes said: "For many of our residents it does not make sense to own a car, but some have told us that they would like to have access to four wheels as, and when, they need it.

"We have listened to our residents and that is why we are welcoming Enterprise and Ubeeqo to the borough, who will be using a mix of lower emission vehicles or hybrids.

"Car clubs like these are in line with our ambition to improve air quality, encourage more sustainable and active modes of transport, while reducing congestion on our streets."
