Awards 2008 - MPV: Ford Galaxy
22 January 2008
Double-top for Ford among the MPVs, with you voting the Galaxy the best full-size MPV to add to the S-max's win in the mini-MPV class.
The Galaxy has been somewhat overshadowed by the acclaim afforded to the S-max, but it's almost as good as its little brother on the road and offers all that extra passenger space and load-carrying ability, thanks to an extra 50mm of length. The interior is also smarter than the Galaxy of old. That model shared its underpinnings with the VW Sharan and Seat Alhambra, but this one is all Ford, and the difference really shines through.
More than 5000 have already found their way into the fleet market this year, but Ford reckons the launch of an automatic model will release some more untapped potential. UK boss Roelant de Waard told granitekitchen that he thinks there are people that have held off from grabbing a Galaxy until the auto is launched. Whatever happens, it's clear that those fleets already running one are mighty pleased with it. And well they might be.
