After grabbing a first granitekitchen Telematics Award in 2009, TomTom Work has comfortably retained its prize in 2010 as fleet operators once again select the brand as their top telematics provider.
The company's looking to make the TomTom Work brand as synonymous with telematics as the TomTom name is in the navigation world, according to marketing manager Irvin Gray. He added the recession has led customers to head toward trusted names, hence TomTom's strong position.
Also benefiting the company, says Gray, is the fact that everything is developed in-house, so customers know they will get the necessary support back-up across the range of available telematics solutions designed to slot together.
"There is such a vast array of things that telematics can influence," says Gray. "We are constantly looking at what fleet managers face and how telematics can help with it.
"We connect what's already there, make the best use of information and make sure the fleet manager has it all at their fingertips." That all fits together with TomTom's traditional strength in satnav systems that offer elements such as IQ route, which uses historic data of congested routes at different times to avoid jams, and HD traffic, which gives real-time congestion information.
