The start point for the best source of fleet information

Techies 2009 - Best SMR System: Epyx 1link Service Network

Date: 25 August 2009

Highly Commended: Auto Windscreens - Smartphone website

Epyx's 1link Service Network system brands itself as the industry standard e-commerce platform that links major fleets with providers of service and maintenance work, such as franchise dealers, independent garages and fast-fit operations.

The system handled almost three million transactions in 2008, and for 2009 is currently running at 20% above that figure year-to-date, with clients including most of the top 50 leasing firms and many major corporate fleets. Epyx claims to have changed the way SMR work is conducted: most bookings and authorisations were carried out by phone or fax, which the firm claims led to a slow and inaccurate process with large scale invoice query and rejection issues.

Under the 1link system, Eypx claims to have almost eliminated the problems, with a large portion of work approved automatically if it conforms to parameters put in place by the fleet manager. The result, according to the company, is that "the driver, service provider and the fleet manager all benefit from a process that is much faster, more accurate and much cheaper to use".

Earlier this year, a new price check facility was added to 1link, analysing the data available across elements including labour rates, parts discounts and lubrication costs to flag up where a fleet can make cost savings.

The Service Maintenance and Repair category was another deemed worthy of a Highly Commended award, with Auto Windscreens also impressing the judges.

In May 2009, the company expanded its electronic offering with the launch of its made-for-mobile website designed specifically for use on Blackberrys and iPhones. Auto Windscreens puts the move down to demand from business customers. The site detects whether the user is accessing via a smartphone and adapts the content accordingly, as well as locating the phone to automatically bring up the address of the nearest fitting centre.
